Can a great wedding reception be put together in 2 months? We don’t necessarily recommend going that route if you’re planning yours, but Scott and Cheryl’s bash at the Spring Lake Golf Club definitely proved that this can be done…. and with style and panache at that!! Scott first called us on June 2nd (’07, that is) to see if the Smokin’ Section was still available, and lucky for him, we had one of our rare Saturdays open in August for his date of the 11th.

The big day for Scott and Cheryl was warm, but not overbearingly so, and the proceedings at the Club got started with our pianist and trumpeter heating things up a little further on the patio. Things moved inside for the reception, and after the announcement of the bridal party and parents, Scott and Cheryl danced their first dance to our rendition of Kenny Rogers’ “You Decorated My Life”. Sex Machine” (video clip)

The Shore crowd really got moving on our versions of the Boss’ “10th Avenue Freeze Out”(see video clip) and “Fire” and dug a Motown/Soul medley featuring “Respect”, “Knock On Wood” and “Rescue Me”. Later on, they got heavily into the funk with Tommie Knight singing James Brown’s “Sex Machine”(see video clip) and Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September”. After that, the crowd worked up a sweat to our take on U2’s “Mysterious Ways” and we concluded with Springsteen’s “Jersey Girl”, dedicated to Cheryl.
