Jenna and Tim hosted an indoor-outdoor party with at the Grain House at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, one of North/Central New Jersey’s most in demand banquet facilities and wedding reception sites. The band and dance floor were set up under a beautifully appointed tent just outside of the Grain House.  Jenna & Tim’s cocktail hour took place upstairs and our trumpet and piano duo supplied the musical atmosphere for it.  When the reception started we introduced the bridal party and parents to the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” and Tim and Jenna walked in to our version of the Bob Marley’s “Iron Lion Zion”.

The happy couple’s first dance was Van Morrison’s “Someone Like You”, handled by our guitarist Mike, with the Smokin’ Section horns and rhythm section backing him. Early on, the crowd eased onto the dance floor with a medley of waltzes (by request from one of Jenna & Tim’s guests).

Waltzing a bit

Just before dinner, the bride and several of her friends really got into a medley of Bruce Springsteen tunes done by the band, including “Glory Days” and “Fire”.

Gettin' down to a few of the Boss' tunes

It was a blast to be working again with one of our favorite photographers and one of NJ’s pre-eminent wedding and event photojournalists, Phil Cantor.  It was our first time working with Lindsay Stewart, the Grain House’s event coordinator/maitre’d that evening, who ran a very smooth party from beginning to end.  After dinner, the band performed a jitterbug medley including “Jump, Jive and Wail” and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s “You & Me & the Bottle” which Jenna and her father really cut a rug to on the dance floor.  The groom requested we do Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September”, which the crowd boogied to.   We ended the reception with our version of the Etta James classic “At Last”.
